Quinn's Corner: Nooga's weekly college hoops notebook
The freshman from Memphis delivered a debut to remember against No. 2 Kentucky but still has a long way to go to define his role in coach Cuonzo Martin’s program.
Remember, Stokes turned 18 just a couple of weeks ago. He's only participated in only a handful of practices as a midseason enrollee at UT.
Nonetheless, it’s hard to ignore the Vols’ team-wide improvement since being shipwrecked with a 3-6 record in mid-December. The team that lost at home to Austin Peay is a distant memory. Having lost to No. 20 Mississippi State and No. 2 Kentucky by a combined seven points, Tennessee will head to Athens for a date with struggling Georgia (9-8, 0-3 SEC) on Thursday before hosting No. 13 Connecticut (14-3, 4-2 Big East) on Saturday.
The good vibes spurred by the Mocs’ three-game home winning were wiped out Saturday by an 81-70 loss at Samford, which entered the weekend with a meager three wins.
After struggling through the game’s first half, UTC used a 16-4 run to tie it 48-48 with 12:32 left. The rally was sparked by three 3-pointers from reserve guard Dontay Hampton. Samford wouldn’t back down, though. Leading 64-62, the Bulldogs went on a 15-6 run over the final 3:08 to win comfortably.
UTC shot 33.9 percent (20 of 59) to help Samford notch only its fourth win in its last 23 games against the Mocs.
Having yet to win a road game this season (0-5), Chattanooga will head to UNC Greensboro (4-14, 2-4) and Elon (8-8, 3-2) for back-to-back road games before hosting Davidson on Jan. 26. The Mocs, Western Carolina and Appalachian State are in a three-way tie for second place in the SoCon North behind Elon.
Orange pulp: Monday night’s win over Pittsburgh brought Syracuse’s lofty record to 20-0 — marking the greatest start start in the program's proud history. Eleven regular-season games now remain. When will the Orange fall? Circle a trip to Notre Dame on Saturday, a home game versus Georgetown on Feb. 11, a game in Louisville on Feb. 13., and a visit to UConn on Feb. 25. It’s tough to foresee Syracuse navigating these four without slipping up.
William Kendall St Louis Mo - News

On Saturday alone, Dayton beat La Salle, UMass beat St. Joe's and Richmond beat Temple. So who will dance? If the season ended today, the nod goes to Xavier, Temple, UMass and Saint Louis. Looking out for the little guy: The same question has been
St. Louis Rams 2-14 Matt Kalil Left Tackle USC Junior Redshirt USC Left Tackle Matt Kalil is the clear cut best player available after Andrew Luck. Kalil can play left tackle, Saffold can play right tackle, and Jason Smith can move to left guard.
Xavier looks to be back to their normal selves as they beat St. Bonaventure 77-64 at home, and Saint Louis was finally able to win a close game as they won 68-67 at Charlotte. But Temple and Saint Joseph's weren't as fortunate, falling to Richmond
The Indianapolis Colts and the St. Louis Rams are those two teams. Who will win the Luck pick? What will they do with it? Will they draft Luck, another player, or trade down? Luck is a shoe in to succeed in the NFL getting a team to the playoffs.
F-4 Phantom II Marker
Panel 1 :
On loan from the United States Air Force, this F-4 Phantom II was acquired on November 7, 2001 from Edwards Air Force Base and transported to the Boeing Company facility at USAF Plant 42. Boeing volunteers worked many hours to restore the fighter to its original condition. In the early morning hours of September 21, 2002, the F-4 was transported here to Boeing plaza, where it proudly flies today.
Built by McDonnell Douglas [formerly McDonnell] in St. Louis, Missouri, the Phantom II is famous for its role as a military fighter during the Vietnam War. The Navy developed it as a high-speed, long-range interceptor to protect the fleet in the 1950s. Because of its range, speed, load-carrying capacity and low maintenance needs, the U.S. Air Force adopted it as a multi-mission tactical fighter for the Vietnam War. The F-4 was also used in the 1990s during Operation Desert Storm. The F-4 flew simultaneously with the U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
More than 5,100 F-4s were built by McDonnell Douglas. The Phantom still holds the record for the largest production run of any supersonic fighter built in the United States [1958 – 1979]. It has also served in the first line of more Western air force than any other jet.
