Weekend Planner: Feb. 10-12

This is the longest running production of any kind in the world. It is the story of a joyful fable of love that combines poetry and theatre into a memorable experience that will enchant any audience with its' romantic charm. The show is written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, with direction from Matthew Miller and Lucas Sherman. If you go: The performance is at Spreckels Performing Arts Center, at 5409 Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 for youth or seniors. Purchase tickets online here .

Oklahoma!:   The production will be held at the Evert B. Person Theatre, on the SSU campus, located at 1801 East Cotati Avenue, Rohnert Park. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. (which features an ASL interpretation). Tickets are $8 to $16 and SSU students are free. Saturday: On the second Saturday of every month, the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter offers free rabbit care information. Bring your bunny for a free nail trim and learn how to make a house for your rabbit. If you go:  "Meet the Bunny Day" runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter, at 301 J Rogers Lane.

Valentine's Male Auction:  Calling all the single ladies in town! Women 21 years and older are invited to Rohnert Park's Community Center this weekend for a male auction — featuring various men from age 21 to seniors. The even tboasts fun, games, romantic ambiance and a silent auction; presented by International Ministries. If you go: The event will be held at the Rohnert Park Community Center at 5401 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park. The reception starts at 6 p.m. and bidding begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each. The Week: Alexander the Great, teen driving - Rohnert Park

The legend of the Gordian knot held that whoever untied the knot would become the ruler of the world.  The public is invited to a math colloquium at SSU with Thomas Mattman visiting from Chico State. Find out how Alexander the Great dealt with the famous knot, and discuss how research connecting mathematics and physics has given new insight into Gordian numbers. The colloquium, sponsored weekly by the SSU Department of Mathematics and Statistics, will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, Darwin Hall, room 103. The Friends of the Library will be hosting the Winter Book Sale at the public library in Rohnert Park at 6250 Lynne Conde Way. The sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. Reduced Saturday prices will include a bag of books for $5 and half-priced individual books. For more information, call 584-9121.

Amigo ” will be presented by the Sonoma Film Institute at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, in Warren Auditorium in Ives Hall at Sonoma State University. Writer/Director John Sayles portrays the forgotten history of the Philippine-American War and tells the story of a rural village occupied by American troops hunting for Filipino guerillas.
