'True Blood,' Season 4, Episode 9, 'Let's Get Out of Here': TV Recap

Amidst the chaos of the vampire/witch melee, Alcide dashes in and whisks the mortally wounded Sookie from the graveyard, only to have super flash Bill sweep in and race her back home. It seems like Alcide is always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to his timing with Sookie and in this situation again, he’s rendered rather helpless in doing anything to remedy her bullet wound blood loss. But as we’ve seen a lot in four seasons, vampire blood can work magic on the dying and the danger is quickly abated for Sookie when Bill gets her to feed off him. She awakens a bit later sharing a non verbal, soulful look with Bill and is immediately adamant about finding Eric. Alcide has finally seen enough and essentially says “I can’t” and “I’m out” to Sookie and heads home to Debbie.

At the Moon Goddess, Antonia is looking pretty pleased with herself as she presents her spelled up Eric puppet to the reassembled coven. However, Tara’s not feeling the victory and isn’t pleased that Antonia rejected Bill’s peace offering en total. Holly and a few others back her up (except for an all-in Roy) and decide they want out, which really ticks off Antonia. She magically locks the doors and lets them know very clearly that there will be no more opt-outs with this coven, essentially putting Tara right back into a new supernatural pickle. Will Tara ever learn? Nope, and there goes Tara’s non-victim storyline out the window too.

At Luna’s, Sam comes up with a work around to Marcus’ ire by proposing an immediate camping trip away from the house so Emma can calm down and feel safe. Luna agrees and the three head out to a bucolic location where Emma chases rabbits by a river. I gotta say for a woman that just found out she slept with Sam’s skinwalker brother as well as dealing with a crazy possessive ex at Defcon 4, Luna’s pretty mellow. Matter of fact when the sun goes down, she even initiates a do-over with Sam in his tent, which I’m going say smacks of a lack of priorities at this juncture.

Perhaps in a moment of true guilt or more likely a death wish, Tommy in Sam's skin basically incites the short-man syndrome Alpha wolf into beating him to a pulp and it only stops when he shifts and Alcide intervenes in disgust.
