West Windsor Arts Center exhibits works by faculty and students
The Art Center for Windsor West was born in 2003 when a group of volunteers began to develop art programs at various locations in West Windsor.In May of this year, West Windsor Township Council accepted a resolution to establish a new arts center in Princeton Junction Firehouse history, and after extensive renovations, the doors opened Sept. 25, 2010.
Now art exhibitions are held in the historic building that during the Second World War was a first aid station and the Civil Defense.Live performances, classes and workshops, open nights Mike and teens programs, films and poetry events, everything happens these days and nights in what was once the home of Bingo, Scouts and baseball.
Now, to celebrate the culmination of the first year of classes in the center of art, an exhibition of works by four of his teachers and many students are exposed in the state of the art auditorium.
The styles of teachers exhibiting very different from each other, showing a sample of the wide range of courses offered.
Zakia Ahmed has been teaching for over 25 years.She holds a Master of Fine Arts Institute of Fine Arts of Dhaka in Bangladesh and has exhibited works in the National Museum of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Academy Shilpkata, and world wide collections.
His oil paintings are dramatic and embrace a complete palette of colors. His style is free. Swirls and splashes of color on the canvas, the figures are vaguely indicated, but in "Ferry," everything is in a glossy people approaching on a curved bridge to bateaus empty until they arrive.
His students with his show with a wide variety of styles ranging from Karri Hamm representation "Exploration of the Chesapeake Bay" to Susan Fox of "Running River" and "red flowers." Like Ahmed, Fox sets aside realistic imaging and uses bright colors and energetic brush strokes to paint his response to what she sees.
