D'Angelo Kicks Off 2012 With Unreleased "Black Hole Sun" Cover ...
The sexy crooner can be heard on this "Black Hole Sun" cover, originally performed by the band Soundgarden . QuestLove of The Roots , who has been working with D'Angelo on his next album, clarified today that the track was actually recorded 8 years ago and won't be on new LP. But it's being heard for the first time across the net today. Quest said:
My statement on Black Hole Sun: its a demo from like 8 [yrs] ago done in his crib in Va. Its NOT on the album (I did NOT leak) YES! Welcome back D'Angelo. REAL MUSIC fans don't care what size you are, we just want you to be healthy, happy and give us some REAL good music. I've seen you in concert several times and I was floored. I'm a female fan by the way and I never valued you because of your looks. I value you for your originality, your sincerity and for creating music that takes me places, like when I listen to Stevie Wonder, EWF, Erykah Badu, John Coltrane, Curtis Mayfield Amy Winehouse, Omar, Jose James, Femi Kuti and Nina Simone. Don't let mean spirited, short-minded people (radio drones) rob you of your destiny or rob REAL MUSIC fans of what we crave. God gave you true gift and a format, use that gift and know that your TRUE fans are waiting to celebrate your gift. I for one am weary of these Soul-lite performers. We need a Soul artist. Share your gifts don't archive them. God's gifts are for our use alone, but to be shared. By the way, I'm from your hometown. Real music is the only music that lasts. I hope he has exorcised some of those demons, got that coke monkey off his back and can get back down to business. I can't wait to have him back, he is a super talented man and deserves to be back to his place in music as God has designed for him. He lost his way but I am glad he is making his way back. Keep God first DeAngelo and you will never miss the way again. Blessings to you, brotha!
