Five finalists named in Littleton city manager search
Three of the five finalists for the Littleton city manager position hail from Colorado.
The city announced the remaining candidates Aug. 12. The finalists, all men, are Derek Todd, Joseph Wade, Stephen Rasmussen , Gary Klaphake and Michael Penny. They’ll be available during a public meet-and-greet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Littleton Museum, 6028 S. Gallup Street.
Current city manager Jim Woods announced his retirement earlier this year, effective Sept. 30.
Klaphake has served as the city administrator for Lafayette, Colo., since 1998. He has held similar positions in Estes Park, Colo. and Fairmont, Minn. He holds a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in urban affairs from St. Cloud State University.
Penny is the town manager of Frisco, Colo., a position he has held since 2004. His backgrounds includes roles as the city administrator for Ouray, Colo., and the development review manager for the City of Boulder. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State University, Long Beach.
Acting as the city administrator of Jefferson City, Mo., from 2006 to 2007, Rasmussen also recently held the same positions in Ottumwa, Iowa, and Maryland Heights, Mo. He’s familiar with Colorado, as he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the United States Air Force Academy before pursuing graduate work at Syracuse University.
Todd served as the town administrator in Frederick, Colo., from 2005 until this year. He previously was the chief administrative officer in Renton, Wash., and also has worked as a management analyst. He received both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Brigham Young University.
A graduate of Northern Illinois University and Loyola University, Wade has served as the village administrator for Morton Grove, Ill., since 2005. He has master’s degrees in human resources management and public administration, and bachelor’s degrees in public administration and history.
